Hi, my name is Nisa.

I am a coffee obsessed registered nurse

and entrepreneur.

INTERESTS

I am a registered nurse with a specialization/interest in safety (occupational health & safety and patient safety). My career, my academic work and extra curricular involvement with associations focuses on these two. However my most recent interest lies in the field of safety and sustainability. When you think of sustainability organization’s typically focus on 3 core capitals (some have additional capitals depending on the industry), that is financial capital, social capital and human capital. Human capital is defined as the skills, knowledge, and experience possessed by an individual or population, viewed in terms of their value or cost to an organization. The Centre for Safety and Health Sustainability describes it the best:

An organization’s human capital includes the skills, knowledge and abilities that workers bring to their work and how they use them. Effective occupational health and safety (OHS) management helps workers safely operate in their work environments, making OHS a foundational element of human capital. Effective management of an organization’s human capital underpins corporate performance and sustainability.

My current focus, research and masters education focuses on sustainability. My research will be focused on embedding safety into sustainability and capital planning.

Aside from my professional interests I am obsessed with coffee so naturally I spend a lot of time working out of coffee shops. I like to explore and visit coffee shops from all over the place. When I retire I want to travel the world trying new coffees and visiting coffee shops. I document this on my instagram page.
